When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (or Google account credentials if you sign in with Google). Family account owners may also provide a family name and invite other members.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use the Service, including grocery lists, meal plans, recipes, messages, requests, polls, and other content you create within your family workspace.
Photos and Documents
If you use our photo or document storage features, we store the files you upload. If you connect third-party storage providers (Google Drive, Nextcloud, or Immich), we access those services on your behalf using credentials you provide.
Receipt and Spending Data
If you use our spending tracker or scan receipts, we process store names, item names, prices, and purchase dates. Anonymized price data may be aggregated into our community pricing database to help all users find better deals.
AI Features
When you use AI-powered features (chat assistant, receipt scanning, recipe import), your inputs are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We track AI usage (token counts) for billing purposes but do not store the content of AI conversations beyond your session.
Google Account Data
If you sign in with Google or connect Google Calendar/Google Drive, we access only the specific permissions you grant (email, profile, calendar events, drive files in designated folders). We do not access or store your Google password.

- Community price database — anonymized, aggregated price data (no personal identifiers)
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Linode (Akamai). We use encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and follow industry-standard security practices. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.
6. Data Isolation
Family HQ is a multi-tenant platform. Each family's data is isolated and accessible only to members of that family. Family members can only see data within their own family workspace.
7. Children's Privacy
Family HQ allows parents to create accounts for children within their family. Child accounts are managed by parents/owners and have restricted permissions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. Parents control what data their children can access within the family workspace.
